275 35 R20 all around?
Should be getting my X3 in about 3 week's time. Most likely will get some winter rims and tires. I am tempted about the following setup for next spring/summer though.
X5 type rims http://www.**********s.com/BMW-X5-Style-Wheels.htm 20", 45 ET offset but the centrebore is 74.1mm. X3's centrebore is I believe 72.5mm. Does that mean these rims would not work? Know of any rims that is similar style? I like the clean 5 spoke. Tires I would, if I do go 20" go with these: Continental Extreme Contact DWS All seasons 275 35 R20. Do you think that is too wide/big, or hinder the driving dynamics? I know the stagged set up do have that size in the rear and 245s in the front. In the summer sometimes we get hail or wet snow so summer tires might be a bit risky. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....i&autoModClar= |

Having said that, many aftermarket wheels with "incorrect" hub diameters are supplied with "adapter" rings that reduce the diameter to the 72.5 value. You may be able to get some from TireRack. Without the correct hub diameter, it's fairly difficult to line up the bolts with the bolt holes, unless you get some wheel hangers. http://www.reverselogic.us/ReverseLo...ide_Tools.html |

Do NOT use these wheels with the wrong centre bore, it will stress the torque bolts and potentially shear them off in a minor impact.........be warned.

For winter use you might also want to consider going for a much smaller wheel which will give you more sidewall protection from potholes etc., and also consider narrower tire widths to cut through the snow.

35's would be too low profile more suitable for sports car then an SUV. Not sure how it might or might not affect driving dynamics. I do have to say the beefy tires on the X5 look nice.

Fine as long as the centre and bolt configuration are right, you should be fine.
