Michelin Primacy MXM4 OEM tires
My wife is looking at a 2012 X3 35i, it seem to have Michelin Primacy MXM4 OEM tires. I could not find these tires on tirerack.com for the X3. Are these tires discontinued? Does anybody have these Michelin runflat tires on their car? How are they as far as snow, thread wear and handling?
Thank You |

My guess is they were not OEM tires for X3. Problem with RFT on TireRack is that there are fewer reviews and sometimes no survey data compared to regular tires. Hopefully that will change as they gain more acceptance.

Thanks noka, I am trying to figure out if they are runflat tires at all. I cannot seem to find the Michelin Primacy ZP MXM4 tires in the X3's tire size anywhere on the internet, 245/50R18.

The 35i should have at least have 18 inch as standard.
As for the michellin wheels I haven't heard them as standard.

I also could not find them (RFT) in that size. If you really like the vehicle otherwise, I would tell the selling dealer that you insist on having BMW wheels and OEM tires (if that matters to you) and negotiate it into the deal.

BMWvin.com shows the BMW LA wheel Y Spoke 308 18". Someone must have swap the 18" out for the 17" for whatever reason.

I pulled off the stock BMW Goodyear run flats on my 2013 X3 M-Sport and am running non-run flat 245/45R-19 Michelin Primacy MXM4s. Much better than the stock BMW tires in dry, wet and snow. They are a great tire.
You can get Continental Tire's ContiComfortKit from Tire Rack Continental Tire's ContiComfortKit or one from BMW (BMWs cost more) for flat repair or just call a flat bed and take it to a shop if you get a flat. |

I have the 28i x3. You are discribing my wheels that I have. They are 17" with 245 55 17. If you have run-flat tires it will say RFT on the side wall. I am sure someone switched wheels with you. I plan putting the Michlen primacy on mine when my Bridgestone wear out. I had them on my 328i and I thought they did great.

You are lucky your did not come with Good Year Eagle LS. My 535i came with those and I ask my dealer to swap them out for the Conti runflats as a condition of my purchase. The Good Year Eagles have sidewall problems, there are a number of case of sidewall bubbles and rim damage. They are also terrible in the snow and the stopping power is horrible. Throw in the highway tire noise and rough ride, it seems like BMW really made a big mistake in using the Eagle LS as their OEM tire. |
