F25 Adaptive Xenons

I'm not sure if my adaptive xenons are working. I put the headlamps on, i press the bottom button on the end of the left hand stalk and get the 'A' symbol in between the speedo and rev counter and i never notice any difference whatsoever in the level of light from the headlamps, even when pitch black - am i doing something wrong?

Are you turning the headlamps on ?

Don't they need to be in the auto position ?

Which is the case on my X1 can't say for my X3 cus I ain't got it yet

I think if you manually turn the headlights on you lose so functionality .. But I may be completely wrong

Headlamps are always in the 'Auto' position

Unless I'm misunderstanding things, adaptive headlights don't vary in brightness, they move in the direction you're steering to light up more of the road as it curves

That's what i originally thought but when i watched an animation on the dash screen (in the picture search menu on the connected drive) it showed main beam coming on just one side of the car or both dependant upon whether it picked up on coming traffic or that it could light main beam both sides whilst following a car and still not blind them as it would pull the headlights apart so as to light up either side of the car and not directly behind.

actually think it is me confusing the issue, it is actually 'main beam assistance' that I am referring to not 'adaptive xenons' . Does that help?

Yes, I think the High Beam Assistant is the technology that is supposed to vary the light distribution pattern to avoid blinding other road users - as to why yours doesn't appear to be working (assuming it's an option you specified as it's not standard equipment)... haven't got a clue... sorry!

Main beam assistance will dip the headlights when it detects oncoming traffic, and put the back on main beam when there is no oncoming traffic.

So you should notice it changing when driving along a country lane with occasional oncoming traffic?

And you will see it working as the blue hi beam light also illuminates. We have it and find it works flawlessly.

Bear in mind the high beam will only come on if your on an unlit road, street lights will stop your high beam coming on. As long as it's set to auto
