My X3 lease was and I was excited to jump ship to the GLC after seeing all the promotional videos and pictures, very luxurious compared to the LCI X3; no competition! Even the reviews were good, until the moment I test drove and realized, this is not a drivers vehicle, the GLC is a passenger vehicle. Not to say that is bad, still great for the average person with better driving dynamics than say a Lexus, but for a spirited driver who demands the handling of a BMW, you won't find that replicated I the GLC.
I ended up getting a 2016 M-Sport X3 with no regrets
!
+1 This is why I'm back to BMW as well and have my X3 and will continue!
What options did you order yours with ?

Indeed, If they model the new Q5 on this... BMW will certainly need to up its game with the next X3

We tried the Q5 before we got the X3 and my wife refused to even consider it - mostly for the points listed above. If a new q5 comes out then fine, a new X3 is due out next year and having seen the X1 I am very excited by the idea.

For us the X3 has been faultless and fun and we only have a 2.0D...

The competition and new models are good for the consumer. We benefit from a wider choice of better vehicles.

It will be interesting to see how the new X3 and Q5 will shape up though I think the F-Pace will be the one to watch over the next two years.

That said, I have a feeling that after a year or two the F-Pace will become stale for consumers. It's a good looking crossover but I'm not sure it's looks will age well once the initial excitement is gone. I don't think the design is classic enough to stay interesting.

I think the GLC will take the crown for this model cycle. Mercedes has been killing it with their recent models and once the GLC line is expanded beyond the GLC300 in the US they'll have an option to cover all of the competition.

Unfortunately, BMW and Audi have both been moving in the wrong direction in terms of design and quality (Audi exteriors are bland and getting blander, BMW exteriors are slowly getting better but they haven't kept pace with interiors, etc). Mercedes seems to be the only luxury/semi-luxury brand on the ascent.

Well, you cannot argue about design. I think that GLK and GLC are really anything but design wonders. Also, Mercedes is clearly for OLD people.
Maybe when I hit 70.... but until than it would be Audi or BMW for me.

I drove a 2013 BMW 335is for a week in the summer and then a 2012 Audi S5 (Convertible).. The Audi didn't drive or was as fast as the BMW, it was def good but not BMW. Only thing I liked about the S5 was the fart noise in the exhaust ha.

I had a 2011 MBenz C300 Sport pkg looked good on the outside, boring luxurious interior, drove BORING. My 07 328xi sedan was a better driving machine and handled better as well my as 2006 Cadillac STS RWD Performance pkg.

In the past 4 weeks I've been in many dealerships.. test driving many cars
3 different 2016 C450 AMGs (362hp/384tq)
Benz GLA 45 AMG (355hp/332tq)
15' X3 35i M-Sport w/ DHP
16' X3 35i M-Sport w/o DHP
16' X4 35i M-Sport w/o DHP
340 M-Sport w/o Adaptive M Suspension
340 M-Sport w/ Adaptive M Suspension

In order of preference: since now being use to X3 M-Sport DHP on my current 28i I am a bit biased.
X3 35 M-Sport w/ DHP
GLA 45 AMG
340 w/ Adaptive Suspension
C450 AMG (has Adaptive Suspension)

Once again I'm staying with BMW, MBenz cars are priced higher barely negotiable, and resale value is horrid..

Sounds like good fun testing all those cars out.

What made you put the C450 at the bottom? The motor has good numbers.

Interior MB hands down
Panorama is gorgeous!
Exhaust on downshift and up shift is nice too (better than BMW at least).
But notice how I didn't put the other cars without the Adaptive Suspension in the list at all

I put C450 in the bottom list of the cars with Adaptive Suspension because I'm preferring the taller ride, GLA 45 AMG 355/332 also felt faster than the 362/384. AMG performance exhaust made the car as exciting as it can get. I think the C450 is a great car but for more than the 340 its tough to say. I do see the Adaptive Suspension on the MB is far superior in user-settings adjusting than BMW and Audi's.

I also just tested the 340 and C450 for the fun of it, I know how practical the X3 is and if I were to change it would be into the X4 for an extra sportier feel. I loved the X4 35i with 20s at the Drive Event.

I saw plenty reviews on the GLC i was hoping it would be impress me, saw it in their showroom. No diesel? no 6cylin ? right now plus when I had my MB before the Benz community wasn't as big or informal as BMW community is.

ROBNYC, what it comes down to is that you should copy my X4 M 35i with H&R and M Performance Klappenexhaust. .

I don`t need to tune the engine - but you could.

The C400 used to offer air-suspension and adaptive shocks, I thought that would be perfect for me. But then MB decided to replace it with C450 (steel spring and a quite sporty setup).

BTW I tried the GLC for a 10 min test drive. The 4 cylinder and small interior size really killed the deal for me. In fact I was very surprised to see it is smaller inside than my X3, because I know GLC is slightly larger outside! They really need to learn some packaging tricks from the Japanese.

C450 Suspension is superior to the Air-Suspension on the C300..
It comes right out of the C63 AMG

Yep I got inside the GLC too but I was not really interested from the beginning, MotoMan (on youtube) had posted a review and its like a X3 but boring (engine).

How is that "superior"?

I fail to see the logic.

Thanks

The only superiority spring suspension has over air suspension is maintenance cost, other than that, air suspension can handle as well as spring, depending on how it is tune, but air suspension will ride more comfortably compare to springs.

Ask them , i just know a C450 w/ Adaptive Suspension its superior than the lesser/cheaper C300 .. But if you feel its not, whatever helps you sleep at night

You didn't answer the question, but by the sarcasm and lack of understanding of a simple question I'm guessing you won't or can't.

Thanks anyway.

Since you know the answer then you can answer it right?
And if you don't I pointed you to the right place on who can answer it for you.

How can a F30 328 have a better suspension than a 340 ?
The C450 has the AMG Suspension right from the C63 (For Sportier and better handling) do you think the air-suspension in the C400 or C300 is better?
Is what I'm trying to say here.
