2011 Done and 2012 Models Avail?

Just got a call from a dealer in the South I was gonna place my order with in a few weeks and he told me that 2011 models are just about done and my order will be a 2012.

Huh? The car JUST came out.

There isn't pricing nor info avail on 2012 models yet or so he said to me but how does that work?

I wouldn't expect any changes. The only difference will be the year on your sticker.

MA78, that's what I am trying to figure out as well. He quoted me a solid price but did say that's for the 2011 and it will change for 2012, since I am getting the 2012 model.

Wag, that's what I don't get, hence the question here. BMW just just started making them in Dec 2010.

This is just the time of year that BMW switches model years. Nothing to worry about.

Same thing happened to me last year with my Z. Was about to order the MY10 version & dealer called me to say if I wanted to wait an extra 2 weeks, they would change my order to the MY11 version, no additional charges. At that time, the MY10 Z had only been out roughly ~4 months.

However the current $500 accessory gift card program is to purchase and take delivery of a 2011 X3 by June 30th. You would think they would wait until the end of summer, and this program ends, to roll out the 2012 no?

Let's say since I am adding the Xenons as an option i my 28i build, and now the 2012 models come standard with Xenons, will they readjust pricing and such?

I want to see what's standard/extra, this way maybe I can readjust my build a bit but there aren't any details on the web. I just did a Google such and came up empty.

Since my 2011 X3 just got built, I am feeling a little snubbed if this is the case. Even though it would just be a different year, and probably not too much difference in the actual vehicle, it still feels that way. And I haven't even seen my X3 yet.

I would not be holding out for any free addon's like Xenon's to the 2012 models, with higher demand that supply at the moment, be sure that there will be little if no difference.
The reason why the 2011's have already been sold is there are ALOT of people who had deposits paid to secure production slots prior to the car officially being launched.
I put my deposit down for a 30D production slot in March last year, at the launch of the X1.
$1000 deposit to secure a production slot was well worth it, if you dont choose to purchase the car at time of launch you get your $1000 back and they just allocate the production slot to someone else.....well thats how it works here in Australia.

There won't be any changes to existing standard equipment.

Interesting. I just found it odd but it seems normal. Either way, will be putting my deposit in a few weeks.

I just returned from a dealership in Chicago and was told if I want a 2012 to come back and place an order in July for late August/September production. The dealer told me they are about 8 weeks out on current models (only the 35i). So if you heard that 2011 models were done, maybe they just meant they aren't taking anymore orders for them at that dealership...

Not true. I just talked to my dealer. He said the 2011 X3 will be around for awhile especially since all the dealers have sold out of their allotments and are awaiting more. He said the X5 and X6 model years are changing!

Some dealers may have stock which they can sell off the lot, but if you want one customised to the way you want it then you will be stuck waiting for a production slot.

Yep, it seems that way and I am special ordering mine too, so maybe the slots are all taken.
