Poor idle at a stop

I have a 2007 X3 that is have a poor idle when stopped. The rest of the time it runs well, no other issues. After it gets warmed up and I stop at a light the idle randomly fluctuates and runs rough. if I put it in neutral it runs fine.. Seems to be worse when it is hot out but not 100% sure of that. Any ideas?

You'll need ISTA-D to see if the car is giving any faults. If there are no faults, then the issue can be coilpacks+sparkplugs. If there are codes...then the idle issue can be solved by fixing those codes....but since you say it fluctuates randomly at a stop light you could also have a vacuum leak or may need new tranny fluid....or may have a torque converter issue (which I doubt you have).

My bet is a vacuum leak. Been chasing this down on my '05. Last night I did a full on inspection of the intake boot and icv branch. Checked out ok. However my DISA O ring was shot. I replaced the o ring and reset adaptions. Car feels more smooth but idle still fluctuates about 200 rpm when stopping before it then steadies at 780rpm.

Maybe you need to check out the air filter and clean it up...that worked for me in the past. Another think to review could be the change the fuel filter and check the fuel pump.

These cars never seem to idle perfect all the time. Weather seems to be a big factor.
