You will need to put the car on a commercial grade charger, good for 50 amps minimum, as you cannot run the motor while flashing.

Here are the basic steps:

Go to Comfort Mode => TAL-Calculating
- Read and Save FA
- Activate FA
- Read and Save SVT Actual as SVT_ist
- Create an SVT Target
Under KIS/SVT Target Calculation Strategy, select Complete Flash
Select I-Step (shipm.) to match your original I-Level as read and shown in VCM I-Step (Shipment)
I-Step (target.) will be unselectable as it is fixed based on current PSdZData I-Level
Do a KIS/SVT Target Calculation and Save as SVT_soll
- Do a TAL Calculation and Save as SVT_tal

Go to Expert Mode => TAL-Processing
Load TAL (SVT_tal)
Load SVT Target (SVT_soll)
Select "Read FA" button.
Check radio button for "read VIN out of FA"
On ECU Tab, uncheck let top box in column "All" (All checked boxes should toggle to unchecked)
On ID Base Row for Kombi, make check boxes in blFlash, swDeploy, cdDeploy, and ibaDeploy columns.
Press Check software availability
Press Start and it will proceed with processing TAL to flash Kombi with new firmware.

thanks Shawn. i really appreciate your help.
However, i just read some of the bimmerfest coding forum and realized i really need a high quality cable rather than the cheap eBay cable I've got because of the length of the flash....

I dont want to risk my new car for my father-in-law...... lol.
there are sure a lot of interesting coding for NBT in bimmerFest. I will try to play around with WiFi Hot Spot next and see if I have any luck...

I think maybe you read about Flashing CIC in E-Series car, which you need ICOM Interface. Flashing CIC or NBT in F-Series car using ENET interface is about 40 minutes, and is not a problem.

Hi guys! I have a problem trying to connect to my 2012 X3. After I fallowed all the instruction from the attached pdf I can't select "Connection via VIN" option. Do you have any idea what I did wrong? I tryed under XP Sp3 and win7 x64 ultimate with the same result. I guess the ENET cable it's ok if I get the correct IP like in the attached image. Thank you for your time

At the first attempt I forgot about the Firewall / AntiVirus programs. Next day I tryed with the engine running and a fresh Windows XP without AntiVirus and Firewall stoped. I had the same result. Do I need aditional software beside E-Sys and PSdZData? BTW first attempt was made with PSdZData Lite and the XP atempt I use PSdZData Full.
I'm going to try tomorrow with a fresh Win7 Ultimate x32 maybe I get lucky.

Thank you shawnsheridan for all the work on this forum.

There is nothing else needed, and PSdZData Lite vs. Full makes no difference.

What is the latest version of PSdZData ? I Have 54.2 Is there a newer one ? Could that be the cause of my problem ?

55.4 is latest. PSdZData version should have no affect on Connection though.

PM sent.

I finally managed to solve the problem. My ENET cable had a wire wrong soldered. I reviewed the scheme and corrected the mistake. Now my cable works like a charm Thanks for your time shawnsheridan But first I have to make a backup of my car settings before I proceed with coding.

I've made my own cable. I bought an OBD II connector, shilded RJ-45 and 1.5m CAT5e cable plus a 516 ohm 1/4 watt resistor. I'm still in the process of reading the thred looking for exact info on how to make a backup on my car computers before start coding. Do you think it could be other problems with my cable ?

Backup is pointless. You can reset any ECU simply by VO Coding it.

Cable should be good to go now.

I'm getting 8 errors when reading in the modules. I think my pszdata version is incorrect? I have a 2013 X3 and I am using PSdZDATA v.54.1. Thoughts?

Hi Shawn,

It looks like the dealer updated my vehicle when it was in service this week. Could you send me the latest psdzdata files? I'm currently using v54.1.

Current I-Step is F025-15-03-503

Thanks
