Order my first BMW today!!!!!
Thanks to some kind people on this forum and their valuable advice, I finally ordered the BMW X3 with the price I want. Dealing with dealers and negotiation of price are such a pain for me, but I made it!!! Now one question, currently how long does it take for a factory order? Thanks. |

Congratulations. We ordered my wife her X3 this past Friday. Got the production # on Saturday and was told it'll go into production "soon".
We were told 6-8 weeks to get the car initially before we signed. After we signed, that changed to 10 to 12 weeks. But the next day, the dealer emailed us a confirmed order with status 112 and told us he found an open production slot he could modify and so to expect the vehicle "earlier" than the 10 to 12 weeks. I'm hoping it's closer to 6 weeks because we have found a buyer for our old car and he is anxious to get it but we can't sell it to him till we get the new car. You can login to bmwusa.com and track the status, or call 800-831-1117 with your production # or VIN and track status, although I don't know how accurate those systems are. The last BMW I ordered was back in 1998 and there was no online tracking system at that time. the sales lady had to call me weekly to keep me updated on the status. It took 3 months but it was coming from Germany. This time, it's being built in South Carolina so hopefully it won't take as long since it doesn't have to cross the ocean. |

I had to wait 4 months, but I live in Europe, so it will be less for you for sure.

It partially depends on your dealer. Higher volume dealers seem to have more production slots available. Last year, I was told 4-6 weeks. It came in just under 3 (and before I was ready with financing, thinking I had longer, so I picked it up a week later).

So figure 1 week for build, 2 weeks for transport, that means we should get it by Thanksgiving hopefully. Since we ordered on the 9th, that would make it about 7 weeks if we get it by thanksgiving. |

I wonder if the production #'s are sequential. Looks like your production # is about 22,000 ahead of mine. Hopefully that doesn't mean I have to wait months

I'm excited! Called the 800# today, it says the vehicle is in production with estimated completion date of November 4th. So the salesman was correct, it did get moved up a week.
The online site still shows as order received and not started production yet. Hopefully we'll get it before Thanksgiving. |

Mine was delivered to dealership yesterday night, I called the dealer in the morning, he said he needed a little time to prepare it for me, so it should be ready to pick up this afternoon, I'm still waiting for his call... It took a little bit more than 2 weeks, from the time I signed the deal and the time the car is ready, it is super fast to me!!! |

Will do in the weekends!
My car dealership offers free car wash which I'm gonna use this noon, yesterday before I picked my car, they parked my car outside the door and there's a bird drop in the front... So typical in Texas... To answer the question of my own in case other people are curious, the car usually took about one week to build, then took about less than 1 week (SC to TX) or longer to deliver to the dealership. Just insert one of my this week's photography homework, night of Dallas Texas, enjoy~ |

Any pictures luckyhusky? Don't mean to be a pest, but those of us who are waiting for their X3 need to live vicariously through those that have received theirs.
(Mine is still in the "Order Documented" state.) Enjoy the X3! |
