Anyone track their F25 yet?

I haven\'t had the pleasure, but to try and get my better half to understand my hobby, she took the 30d out for a ladies only track day.
The car did well, and kept up with a lot of serious petrol engined cars.
I just need to talk her out of going again in my Z4.

Anyone else take their X3 to a track?

You will probably need a calendar - not a stop watch...

Nerdy theoretical response

Your post about 1/4 mile got me thinking about kinematics.

If we use the formula

S=ut 1/2at^2

Where

S is the distance, u is the initial speed a is the acceleration and t is time.

We have:

1/4 mile = 0 1/2at^2

We need everything in SI units and 1/4 mile is about 400 metres.

The acceleration of a 2.0d is 0 to 100kmh in 8.5 secs which yields an acceleration for the formula of 3.2679m/s^2

Putting these variables and rearranging the equation gives us

Sqr(400/(3.2679/2))=time

Which is 400/1.6339=244.8...

The square root of which is 15.64 so very close to your 16sec estimate.

Obviously assuming continuous acceleration performance is wrong and at the end of the quarter mile you would be doing about

Now I am going to get a life!

What about the 30d?

Tracking in this thread refers to taking your X3 to a race track.

Owning a 30d I would estimate the quarter mile comes up close to the 15/16 sec range.
Not fantastic but not too shabby either.

X3 = high center of gravity, high polar moment of inertia, limited steering feedback, small brake disk area for vehicle mass, 4340 lbs.!!, street brake pads, street tires, Sport + mode (stability control override). *

The roof rails should help minimise damage to the paint.

Hope you aren't the one who is surprised.

*It does make a nice tow vehicle, however.
