If you've driven the Mercedes you will know it's a dog by comparison to the X3. Find another dealer!

Sorry to hear your dealer is not to your satisfaction. However, I would never get a GLK over an X3...especially if you enjoy the experience of driving.

The waiting lists in Norway are long! I ordered my M-Sport in April and they told me it would be delivered in September. Then they went quiet and when I called back to check they said February!! I cannot change dealers since that will put me further back in the queue.. I can accept to wait but I feel that others have taken my place in the line and I've been pushed backwards.. Anyway the GLK is a perfectly OK car, september production and October delivery sounds ok :-)

I have driven a GLK twice, both times extensively. It is NOT a car I would get over the X3, not even if the BMW salesdude made me furious. The GLK is a pig of a car, imo. Heavy, no driver feel, and underpowered.

Just my 2c.

What other choices would you consider there? Either wait, or go for an Acura?? Audi? IF I didn't get the X3 those would be my other choices.

Never mind the power, due to taxes I have to choose between a 163hp X3 20d and a 170hp GLK220CDI..

However I fear that the merc will leave a lot to be desired, the X3 is far better spec'd.. I drive a GL320CDI form time to time at work and alltough the car is perfectly OK the command system is overpriced and old fashion.

I have to think this matter over once more and maybe put more pressure on the ignorant salesmen!!!

Apart from the X3 I am considering GLK, Q5 or Volvo XC60. Acura is not available in Europe..

The Q5 is too expensive (for what You get from BMW for the same money) and the XC60 looks kind of funny. My only good option is the GLK because of an ongoing campaign..

2018 Audi RS5  [0.00]
If I couldn't get the x3
I'd get the Audi q5
We test drove all 3, x3, GLK, q5
GLK was the first one eliminated
Felt cheap inside
Worst to drive
Q5 was much nicer inside, looks great
But when we saw the x3, that was way ahead in terms of driving pleasure, engine, and brakes

I might be too furious right now.. Who wants to spend 18 months wages on a car and be treated like a problem?

Guess I'll walk the extra mile to make my dealer settle this matter, thank You for lifting my spirit!!

Can you meet with the owner or top dog at the dealer and confront that person directly?

I am trying to get the management or even the national BMW top dogs to get involved. The salesman quit this summer to embark on studies and my order got left behind, he promised me a car out of their own allocation but in the end it seems this car will go to a "higher bidder" as I got a heavy discount when I placed my original order last November. They can easily charge MRSP for their cars these days due to the demand and they probably regret their early bird discounts :-/

If you are thinking of getting the GLK why not consider some type of wagon instead? The GLK like the last gen X3 is quite small and there's practically no legroom in the back. The current gen X3 is the perfect size imo but after what you've been through I can see why you would consider getting something else.

X1 maybe? I would get X1 instead of the X3 if it was available in the US...

run it up the chain to executives at BMW. Expose the dealer. Stand up for your consumer rights. Make it better for you and others the next time.

I id not realize the GLK was smaller, another reason to reconsider.. A wagon is fine except I really want an SUV/SAC because the class appeals to me a bit more, I like the look and the taller seating position :-)

I would leave your order in, order another one from a different dealer. If you need to change your vehicle right now then buy a used SUV and drive that until the X3 arrives.

I'll might do something like that, but as I said earlier the kind of discount I got is impossible to get if I start negotiations today because of the high demand.. But I am entitled to one of the first X3 M-sports arriving in Norway and I intend to fight a bit for my rights!

I'd pick a Q5 over GLK if you decided not to pursue your X3. IMO the X3 is the best in class for now, so I hope your problem with the dealer will be resolved.

I would choose X1... It is very good to drive, like a 3 series saloon!!! In Canada, we only get offered the 28i with the turbo 4 with 8 speed. That felt really fast and handling was very good.
