Hi All,

Does anyone here have the same engine tickling noise on your X3's?
I bought this pre-owned with 51,000 km. It's loud noise when I start it in the morning.

We have a 2107 with 6K miles. It has made that noise from day one. Immediately upon starting there is a distinctly loud valve tapping/injector type noise. After approximately 20 seconds the noise lessons dramatically to a relatively normal engine sound and goes away once warmed up.

This was asked many many times. Totally normal - direct injection, sounds like diesel when cold.

I went to the dealership they said they will replace the high pressure fuel pump, just wating for the parts to arrive and see what will happen.

Just for information about the engine noise on my 2016 bmw x3 xdrive28i. After the replacement of the high pressure fuel pump the loud ticking noise is gone. Now I just have a normal start up noise that some people are talking about. Thanks

2017 X28i w/ 12k miles. Never had the diesel noise on
start up. Correction, there was a tiny bit of noise in winter, cold.
I had to get a cheaper tank of gas.......didn't watch gauge !
almost ran out, a Red Arrow gas station, they had only 89 and the
tanker was there ! That or walk

hasn't done it since, So overall no noise on start up.

But the repair is something to put in the memory banks!
There are many that have the issue.
