Haha I agree. I usually can't tell much from these models. I'll just wait patiently for the real reveals

I think the GLC is soft and "puffy" looking, not that it looks bad but prefer the harder edged X4 G02 profile better seen here.

- New front fog lights (5 serie design), no more round ones - New design of the exhaust pipes of the M40i, up to date with other MPerformance models - side vents behind front wheels - aerodynamic element at the end of the roof, probably part of the opening tailgate - front part: the small horizontal air-opening above the registration plate is no more present, think at the new 5 serie design. A mix of baby X6 and new 5. - back part: rear lights doesn't seem impleted vertically as now. they seems wider and thinner, and more "bent" in the body (similar to Mer###es). that the few thinks I noticed. Given that the current X4 M40i uses the high output N55 while the next one will use a B58, I wonder if peak power will actually decrease slightly? Today's model makes 355hp, but it seems possible the new one could drop to 335hp as seen in the G30 540i. Alternatively they may plan to bump power of the engine up for the M Performance applications which will include the G01 X3, G02 X4, G2x 3 Series and G2x 4 Series. However, given that the 335hp output itself was just introduced as a jump up from the 320hp the B58 started at, I'm not sure we'll see yet another increase quite this soon (X3 M40i will launch this year).

mkoesel it will definitely get a power bump. the m235 used the same engine and didn't get 355hp cause its a car and lighter. the x4 m40i is heavier so it will get more power, and there's also no way they will lower the power of a newer model. that is just dumb. also the b58 has a ton more potential than the n55 will ever be capable of.

mkoesel there was no advertised M2 power output when the m235i came out.
the x4m will have over 400hp. I bet the new x4 m40 will have around 370 hp.

Presuming that the X3/X4 M40 are designed to compete (pricewise) with the 354 hp SQ5 and the 340 hp Macan S, we may be more likely to see to see somewhere between 340 and 350 hp dont you think?

I'm not a fan of the X4 or X6 and no styling changes will change that for me. They drive the same as the X3 and X5 but you lose rear headroom and cargo space in exchange for the swoopy back end.
If you're going to sit that high off the ground, you might as well get a usable back seat and cargo room out of the deal. If you want a swoopy back end, you might as well get something lighter and lower to the ground that's better to drive. But hey, if for some reason this type of vehicle suits your fancy, BMW and Mercedes are happy to oblige. |

The current model looks like a little kids drawing of what a car should look like. MB's version isn't especially nice but it's a lot more visually pleasing than BMW's offering. The x6 kind of works but the x4 always looked like a hulked out GT to me, definitely the ugliest car in BMW's stable.. the new one does look a lot nicer (but agreed on the utter pointlessness of it) Would be nice to get the 550i touring here instead. |
