Hello:

went to discount tire to get new tires as well today. And they came back saying the key is stripped and lock nuts not coming out.

Will start trying option 1 - visit dealer to see if they have a way to get the lock nuts at their end ?

And then visit the local repair shops as second option...

I suspect the tech in the tire shop mishandled the key..poor performance in service shop for tires replacement...

Any advise to simplify the process will be appreciated. Any local dealers review/experience in Detroit area will be a plus

There any number of commercially available tools designed to remove stripped or broken wheel locks. AutoZone advertises one on their web site for less than $20.00. Any capable tire shop should be able offer assistance. They see this sort of thing all the time. Good luck.
