Packing Material in X3 M Sport

Does anyone with an X3 35 sport package have some flimsy looking foam that is visable when the front door is open attached to the front fender? Not sure if it was left on from transport.

It seems to be on all X3's. Some have speculated that it's there to reduce wind noise.

Whatever you do, don't touch it! Removing the foam will force the car into "limp home mode". It will only shift through the first (4) gears and won't go faster than 25 mph/1200 rpm. with the hazard light flashing. In addition your warranty will be voided, you will be blacklisted and never be allowed to enter a BMW dealership again.

I asked the same thing the week before, the black styrofoam looks funny. I've never seen a car with them before and was contemplating if I wanted to remove it because it's simply glued on and some of the glue is peeling off mine.

Yeah. It certainly does not look like it would last the life of the car.

Some people are finding silver packing rings in their cup holders. I guess these can be dumped after transport.

Yeh, I found those in my car. Fortunately they just lifted out without any problem. No glue holding them in and dropped them straight in the trash.
