[The X Men]

Whenever I drive my wife's X3, I feel that I have to lift the tip of my foot more than I have to in other cars in order to go from gas to brake. Have anybody else notice this on their X3?

I commented on this months ago. your right....it's harder to pivot your foot from the gas to the brake all the time. i have to reposition my foot periodically.

Agree. Not as natural of a shift as it was in our previous 3er sedans.

i'd say get another car is all you can do. Or start doing ankle stretching exercises more.

Likely a legal nod toward drivers who claim sudden acceleration.

BMW actually posted a video proving the brakes on current BMW's will stop the car even with the accelerator mashed to the floor.

That said, I've seen people posting claims on this or the other forum about sudden acceleration with their X3.

I thought this was just me a while back - when I first got my 2012 x3, my foot collided with the side of the brake pedal a few times because I did not lift it enough but I've since gotten used to it and it rarely happens anymore. I had forgotten about it and you had just reminded me.

Thats what my wife said too, I will get use to it. Since I dont drive her car that much, my foot, much like yours, hits the side of the brake pedal when I try to brake. I can picture how this can be a dangerious situation for someone who is not use to the car.

I took my wife's 328i for service this morning and was given an X3 as a loaner. Since I'm picking up my new '14 X3 next week, I thought about and noticed the un-level pedals on the 2013 loaner X3. The break pedal was quite a bit higher than the gas.
Well, after we returned the X3 and picked up the wife's 3'er, I noticed the same thing on her car. The difference was at least as much as found on the X3, if not more so.
I now think it's not even an issue since I haven't noticed it in the two years we've had hers.

Same in my previous (manual) 320 and the 318 before that.
In both, I could easily use the difference in height to identify the brake and distinguish it from the accelerator when I needed to apply the brake from a "foot-off" position when using cruise control.
I quite like it.

I was taught in an auto and to keep the ankle stationary and rotate the foot.
