My diesel comment was totally relevant to the the discussion on BMW diesel engines for the X3. I actually will receive one of the first diesel F10's to arrive in this country around the end of September 2013. Clean diesel fuel availability has been the issue for European car manufacturers in bringing their superb and popular diesel engines to the US and it has been extremely political. Our diesel fuel prior the current low sulfur fuel was filthy, horrible for human beings, and horrible for the environment. Republicans in Congress and the Senate were opposed to the changes. The truth is hard to take for some people.

@pharding: You know, much of your contribution here is useful information for the community. And while the first three sentences of your post are addressing the diesel discussion, everything after the word "Plus" is stereotype hyperbole worthy of a Klansman. Whatever esteem you had here is greatly diminished which is a pity. You usually have good things to contribute.

I just received an email from a fellow Bimmerfester that the above has changed and now the technology upgrade will not be available until SOP July 2013. If true that is a crock of sh1t. I am looking further into this.

Maybe SOP July 2013 X3's will be the facelift LCI after all as some have suggested. That is pure conjecture on my part.

You elected to ignore my follow on post. I will quote it for you. "Thank you. If the Republicans can get rid of the more extreme positions, I intend to vote Republican in the next presidential election. I am concerned about the national debt."

I did no such thing. My statement was about your previous post also criticized by others as inappropriate.

With technology upgrade, do you mean the upgrade to the Idrive?

Yes, including iDrive and Nav hardware and software upgradeswhich are quite substantial.

Garage List
I ordered mine a few weeks back .. the following week a guy on PH forums (works a BMW dealership he said) told me that there was a new options list for the Nav etc for cars starting build week 14 (April 2013). Mine was out by 1 week, so I canned my order, and started again. The ProNav had come down by around £600, and is apparently able to be updated (software) with a USB port that's been added.. I'm unsure of all the exact details sorry.
One thing that was additionally pointed out to me as to why the price had adjusted so dramatically, was that it no longer "Enhanced Bluetooth".. Once you add that back in, the discount to the old Pro media is more like £175.
I was told that this was all in aid of BMW offering out a base level (under business) media package (i.e 3 packages going forward).

Not sure if it qualifies as an LCI though

(p.s. the car I have on order is a CB/Black F25 30d M Sport)

I ordered mine specifically for April production due to the software/hardware upgrade and so i expect to get i t delivered with that plus a chrome exhaust wich i also were told was new.

I cant imagine BMW moves the productionstart without informing sales/customers...or?

If it is so that the LCI is due 2 months later i could wait for that as well hard as it may be. My salesman had heard nothing about the LCI coming in June.

same here .. but then, until I pointed it out he "apparently" hadn't heard about the software/hardware update either.

I look at buying cars now the same way as I look at buying tech .. pick a point, and enter the market. we could sit there waiting for the next update all the time.. these "LCI"'s (BMW speak at least) just seem to come around too often. I'm happy with the way the car looks, feels and goes. The only reason I pulled the order and placed it again was because it was literally one week difference, and genuinely saved me money.

According to internal BMW Documents MY 2014 has SOP April 2013 and runs through March 2015. MY 2015 has an SOP of April 2014. My conjecture would be MY 2015 is the LCI. My local dealer Sales Manager is looking into when the iDrive and Nav will be upgraded on the X3.

Couldn't agree more, I could wait until 2020 at this rate. Already waited for the 2013 new engine and now waiting for the 2014 model year, I might go nuts if I wait for the LCI in maybe 2015.
My purchase order went in last night for a delivery date of June and production date of May. The only reason I wanted it then was becuase I was going to be in Germany this summer and wanted to pick it up. Oddly enough the purchase order changed three times in the last two weeks (i.e. cargo net no longer available, packages changing around, etc). Does anyone think this means anything, or is my dealer going crazy. He's sold me three cars before and he seemed actually confused as to why the packages kept changing after we sat down and talked about them. He's also in Germany and we talked all year about what I could get with the 2014 X3 right up to my visit to the dealership so it's hard to believe he just forgot what they could offer. I could hope it's some changes happening early but I doubt it.

My salesman is an actualy one of those who know his stuff and informed me about the April update to wich we timed the productionorder accordingly.

The question is whether BMW inform their salesapparatus if they alter the date, as in my case where there is an order placed to a spesific date because of this update?.

He knew there was an LCI coming, but he had no info on dates there.
He would be surprised if it was this year, because of where the X3 is in it´s lifecycle and the april update.

i had exactly the same .. the new packages available from April 2013 build dates seem to have only just filtered down to the sales reps .. and it seems they weren't quite prepared for it. I'm just hopeful mine turns up as I'm expecting it

Mine is build week 17 I'm told .. expected delivery is first week of June.
Pretty much fully loaded, so it should be as I want it (he says)

good luck with yours ..

I just heard back from local sales manager after he spoke with BMW NA. The SOP April 2014 X3 will get the new iDrive and Nav hardware and software upgrade. Production will run with little or no changes until March 2014. The implication is that the LCI will happen with SOP April 2014 as a 2015 MY.

LCI brings open kidneys like F3x !?

New spyshot (close ups) looks like that the X3 LCI gets open kidney like the new BMW style:

Open kidney grills???

So I was taking a look at the new spy shots of the 2014 BMW X4 and noticed some very strong similarities between its front end and the one spied on the 2015 BMW X3. This leads me to believe, like Uli_HH has pointed out, the front end may be receiving a the new BMW open kidney grill like the new 3 series and X4 concept had. This is all assuming the X4 will keep the front end design from its concept.

Do you think the 2015 X3 will be getting the new grill? Or do you think it will stay more along the lines of the 2014 5 series?

I'm not sure why most automakers have been slow to bring their new, modern diesels to the US. I think people will really like them.

Question for new diesel owners - is there a visible exhaust plume under any circumstances?

Wing Mirror

Looking at the X3 and X4 again I would also guess the 2015 X3 will get those smaller more sleek looking side mirrors. My guess is once we see the production X4 we will essentially know exactly what the new X3 will look like. Any idea when that will be unveiled.

Just wondering, the factory is now closed for maintenance. The same time they change the production also for the new X5. Hope they add some new changes to the X3 cars produced too...
I can recall this happened once in Germany too when they upgraded the production line years back ...
