Oil drip on Valvetronic sensor. Common issue with X3?

Hey all!

I'm in the market for a 2007-2008 BMW X3. Found one with less than 50k miles at an independent dealership, full service history at the local BMW dealership, no accidents, etc...

They gave me the VIN to run the service history and it looks pretty good except for one point. According to the service history, the car was brought in to the BMW dealership because it wouldn't start. They diagnosed the issue as an "oil leak on the Valvetronic sensor" and quoted a repair bill of $1500. The independent dealership decided to have it done elsewhere and took the car back.

Anybody here have a similar issue before, and if so how much would this cost to fix at an indy mechanic? I'm viewing the car tomorrow to see if they have any records of fixing this, but I'm curious if this is something common with X3 motors.
