I received the letter, but the website says that there are no recalls for my vehicle. I trust the letter more than I do the website.

I tried it as well and got the same result even though I received the letter.

I got the letter on my 2011 328i, but nothing for the 2011 X3 2.8 (yet). Nothing on the website for either of the cars.

Thanks.
I received the letter but when I checked the website, it says no recall for my truck when I put in the VIN #. Would it be because we have to check on BMW Canada website?

Has anyone had the replacement done yet? Recieved my letter and have an appointment next month...just wondering if there is any difference in sound or performance?...Serivce told me less than 1% have had this error so a recall was made for all models of the year and engine in question just to be sure.

I assume so as North America didn't have a diesel engine for the years in question.

I had it done a week ago on our X3. Didn't notice a difference yet. I think all they did was replace the bolts for the Vanos unit. Apparently the old bolts were too long to torque to spec?

My appointment will be end of next month. Was told it may take a few hours or a couple of days??!! How long does yours take? I'm bringing mine to Town and Country BMW in Markham.

I dropped my car off in the morning, and they did the Vanos and a couple of other things. Was ready for me at 3:00. I went to Parkview. In my case all they did was replace the bolts, so it shouldn't have taken long at all. The tech said in some cases they have to replace the whole Vanos though... That might take longer, although I wouldn't think much..

I received a letter from BMW Canada stating my vehicle may be affected, it is a 2011 X3 , but no recall. The letter states that they are extending the warranty for 10 years, unlimited mileage on the Vanos units. Not sure why some vehicles are recalled and some are not..

I got letter that states extended warranty for 10 years no mileage limit on vanos unit, no recall though. I've got 2011 X3 28i. That is strange.

Both my Z & X are booked over the next 2 weeks. I was getting long cranks on both vehicles. Initially they said that only the Z will be addressed, but when I advised of the long cranks on the X, they agreed to make the change on that vehicle.

I also got an extended warranty on the X (but not Z). Maybe it's because my X still has a year warranty left and the Z doesn't.
