Best none run flats UK

I’ve recently bought a 2012 30D msport with 19” wheels on Goodyear runflats but I’m finding the ride quite harsh.

A mate with a different BMW model says he swapped his and it made a huge difference.

Read lots on here about this with numerous advice on which tyre but most are from USA.

What are recommendations for UK roads/weather/availability?

Tks

Stiff short travel suspension with very firm dampers could be helped by fitting non run flat ?? but on my now sold car it made not the slightest bit of difference in fact when I returned to to new run flats it was better . Car was always very "jiggly" at motorway speeds on roads that looks perfectly smooth !

I’d love to hear people’s views too! I’ve recently bought my X3 and test drove a couple with run flats which were quite harsh. The one I bought has a square set up on 18’s non run flat which is smooth as silk.

I have some staggered 19’s to go on once I decide on tyres but I don’t see many non run flat options catering for both front and rear sizes? I know it won’t be as smooth as the 18’s but I really don’t want to go down the run flat route unless I really have to.

@Redev
Ring Black Circles. https://www.blackcircles.com/ They will give you options that are BMW * rated for the X3 with Staggered or Square set up.
I have been using BMW * Rated Pirelli P Zero NON Run Flats (19" Staggered) on my X3 xDrive 30d M Sport for nearly 2 years now. Feels less harsh than Run Flats. You need to carry a can of Gunk in the boot just in case you get a puncture.

+1 on this. I have been running the same Pirelli non run flats for the last year and a half and the ride was vastly improved.

Made a massive difference on mine.

To be honest, any non run flat is better than the best run flat.

I have a 530d at the mo, only had it a week, booked in to get the tyres replaced on Thursday. Hate run flats.

Will do 😊 How do you guys find the Pirelli’s handle in the wet? I’ve used Goodyear Eagles on previous cars and been spoilt on those as they handle really well in damp conditions...

OK...no problem. You will never notice much on an X3 Xdrive anyway because the xdrive looks after everything.

Mine are all NON Run Flats. You must NOT mix Run Flats with NON Run Flats. If they do not have in stock then go somewhere else if you are ready to change or wait until back in stock.
You could use another tyre manufacture! Dunlop I understand are good with BMW * rated non run flat tyres.

No 100% I’d never mix run flats and non run flats. Just searching around for stock of the BMW star Pirelli p zeros non run flat. Harder to find than I though but I’ll keep looking 👍

Someone local is selling some bmw 17” rims with 225/60 pirellis not run flats. He claims he had them on his wife’s X3 and it was a smooth.
Tempted to buy them and keep 19” staggered with RFs till I flog it as they are near mint.

Thoughts please ? Is 17” ok on an xdrive 3 litre ? It would not look as good from the arse end but I can sacrifice that for comfort....

Just an update. I put the P Zero run flats on my staggered 19 inch set up a few weeks ago and considering I’ve gone up slightly in rim size I’m pleasantly surprised about the ride quality. I thought it’d be unbearable but for the most part it’s been quite good. I certainly don’t regret the change at this point.
