Hello,

Can anyone identify what this is and where it's supposed to go?
I was replacing the cabin air filter and found this under the bottom filter. I tried to figure where it's supposed to go and came up empty.

Any help is appreciated!

And what car? Your profile says you drive an M3. This is an X3 forum.

The current part number is 61126825706. It is, not helpfully, called a "cover". The drawings on RealOEM.com show it as part of the microfilter housing assembly. You should look there.

What it looks like to me functionally is a drain for the housing.

They do not all have this part. I actually retrofitted it to my 2011 because it works in conjunction with the updated micro filter lid to aid in water draining.

Hello,

My X3 got this part replaced with a new one under a campaign TSB. Apparently the original clogs easily and can cause electrical gremlins under rain. I have a 2015 BMW X3 LCI
