I have tried to suck the air in the rear brakes but not very much fluid is getting sucked out of the bleed valve.
do I need to do something with the ABS to "release things"

As I said before I sucked the fluid out during a brake fluid flush but never did I get it like with lots of air in the system.

Any ideas?

You may have gotten air into the ABS unit. Use a diag tool to put the ABS in bleed mode and try bleeding to get a steady flow of fluid out. A power bleeder make it much easier.

I apologize for bringing up this old thread. I had a similar issue with my vehicle recently; it turns out that I had a software issue that causes the yellow PARK light illuminates. So, I go to the nearest dealer in my place to update the software. I did a lot of searches on this issue and came across an in-depth article that may be worth reading. Search for "BMW Electronic Parking Brake Malfunction on YOUCANIC" and you will see an article that goes over common causes and possible fixes. You can read about it yourself. I hope this information can assist someone else with a similar issue.
