USB playing from start every time

I have the iDrive CIC with 6.5" screen and has as USB port in the armrest.

I loaded a USB (Sandisk UltraFit) with some 50 songs. It recognizes the songs and plays, but every time I turn off the car and start, the music plays back from the beginning. It does not seem to remember where I left off. Tried with another USB (Samsung) and same thing.

USBs are formatted to FAT32.

Is this normal behavior for BMWs?

Car is a x3 2011 xDrive 28i and I just replaced the battery a month ago.

How do you have the files on the drive. Are they all in one folder? Or are they listed individually (not in a folder)?

They are in one folder. Checked multiple usb drives with multiple folders as well. The same happens, it resets when the car goes to sleep/locked.
