LCI will appear in MY2015 with start of production on 1 April 2014.

MY2014 starts production on 1 April 2013 and ends production on 31 March 2014. This per the advisory to dealers sent out last month. I have seen the text while ordering my MY2014 car on 11 March.

My salesman and sales manager (both 9+ year BMW sales vets at the same dealer) confirm that BMW does not release LCI changes in the middle of the model year. Therefore, LCI will appear on 2015 cars starting production on 1 April 2014.

interesting---I wonder why they would have "test mules" out and about testing 18 months prior to the date then.

i've heard they are doing an early LCI for the X3 to keep up with the GLK and Q5 that recently received facelifts.

who knows..we shall see- thanks for your input.

I share what I have discovered. I agree it does not align with the fact that test X3s have been seen on the streets for quite awhile now...

And maybe BMW is snowing us all...

Although not mentioned in the above article - LCI may coincide with simultaneous release of a diesel engined F25. This engine may get some "extra's" (above European model/s) to reduce emissions in the N/A market - BMW may be keen to test this for a longer period in order to reduce possible warranty claims - thus the longer presence of the current test mules.

:You can extend your lease up to 6 months with BMW FS if you ordering another BMW. This is the best strategy for you.

American diesel fuel has historically very dirty and not very pure. European diesel fuel has historically been relatively clean. The new low sulfur American diesel engine fuel is much closer to European standards. Plus Republicans in the US Congress and Senate do not believe in global warming and they do not care about the environment. They believe that the US is exceptional and therefore free to heavily pollute the earth. Plus they believe that the sooner that mankind snuffs itself out, the quicker that the population of the world will get to heaven. Thus they are able to rationalize horrible behavior in the name of God. Most Americans believe that there is a basic "Freedom" of wasting the earth's resources and dumping vast quantities of garbage into the air. The Chinese have embraced this freedom on an even more massive scale.

I am a registered Republican so I was initially put off by your response, but in truth I find it difficult to find any fault in your assessment.

Thank you. If the Republicans can get rid of the more extreme positions, I intend to vote Republican in the next presidential election. I am concerned about the national debt.

Interesting.
Because of a significant (and kind of unexpected) CO2-based tax increase for lease cars here recently, I've been forced to look for a more fuel and CO2-efficient car, soon switching from a MB R (CO2 245 irrc) to a 2.0 diesel X3 (C02 147g).
That'll even increase my monthly netto (i.e after tax) salary by almost 200 euro (!!, almost full option except for sport package and moon roof), so I definitely don't see the X3 as a downgrade ...

Btw, since living the US for a short while (over ten years ago) I'm still somewhat jealous of your gas prices, no matter how environmentally correct I'd like to be.

I'd guess as long as gas prices stay at the levels they're at in the US, even with $4 US a gallon, people will continue to buy the high profit inefficient SUVs and big motored cars. We have no incentive to change. The democrats are trying to legislate in the change but there is a lot of opposition among voters.

@pharding, I've read the US low-sulfur diesel standards are tougher to certify than European standards hence the lack of BMW diesels in the US. Given the small market (see above), its not worth the cost to BMW to certify them.

true you can--but only with a production # for a new car being built... if the car's release is not until mid next yr--a production # will not be avail.

Your dealer working with BMW FS can take care of it.

More speculation without substance. The LCI will arrive in April 2014 as a MY 2015. ----This may be wrong. See my post below.

Silly, silly, and irrelevant comment. Personal political views have no place on this forum.
