Service Inclusive

I've specced the "Service Inclusive Plus" package with my order - I think it's called that... It's the 5 year 50,000 mile package that includes brakes.

It costs £1,370.

The alternative is "Service Inclusive." It's the same package, but does not include new pads and discs, or the clutch assembly (irrelevant to the 8 speed Auto presumably!)

This costs £425.

I know the latter is a good deal, but is the £1370 a good deal? Would I likely spend almost £1000 on brake discs & pads over the course of 50,000 miles?

I'm wondering whether I should drop to the lower package and put some of the difference on the tyre insurance or something... or a set of winters...

Edit: I'd probably look to PX after 3 years anyway...

Yup, I'd go for the cheaper option - on both my X3s(I know they're E83) I haven't had to put discs on until at least 65/70k miles. Brembo discs are £90 for a pair for the front of my 3.0d and pads are a similar cost for a decent set.

My rear brakes are almost up after 20,000 miles. I can't remember the front expected mileage but they both wear relatively quickly. May be linked to cruise control and performance control.

I wish I had gone for the more expensive service option. Would defintely save over 5 years if the current wear continues

yeah.. my rears are due to be replaced in 6k miles (that would make it 20k in total)... least it's not as bad as the cayman... 800 quid just for front rears/pads!

In the US, a 4 year maintenance package that includes brakes is folded into the base price. When they went to free maintenance, their recommended oil change interval shot way up to once every 15,000 miles. Makes you wonder, were they wrong before, or are they wrong now?
