Mine is at the dealer as of yesterday. Funny thing happens everytime you go to the dealer for a fix. The drivers window which was really rattling a couple of days ago was almost quiet and the throttle response was good. But then on the off ramp; "the lag". I guess one out of two isn't bad!

I went to a new dealer and took a copy of the SIB. SA hadn't seen it and was going to give it to the shop foreman. I'm guessing that they're doing the update due to the length of time. Two days for just an oil change and a couple of little things would be quite long.
When I took mine in for the update, they also said they would need to replace the passanger front window regulator as it has been recalled. Are they doing this to yours as well? My drivers side window was making a "screeching" sound every time I put it up and down and they are also replacing a worn flocking on the belt. I have to take it back in next week since they had to order the parts. I'm seriously concerned about letting them take apart the doors because I hate the fact they have to mess with the vapor barrier. It seems to be a well documented issue that once they are messed with, down the road water always ends up in the footwell of the vehicle because they are not sealed right. I hate letting people mess with my car

Where can I get a copy of the SIB?

Knock on brushed Al, so far no problem with the windows except the rattle in drivers side. Just replaced by daughter's 325i passenger window regulator at 98K, $360.

I wasn't having any problems with the passenger side that is being recalled either, but they said as they X3's are coming through for other things, the regulator is on recall to be replaced.

Oh sh!t, haven't they heard of "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"? I hope they don't touch mine. Like you indicated, it can be a domino effect.

I remember reading somewhere that this fix is "officially" to fix a shifting/acceleration delay when slowing down to slow speed of 3 - 10 mph and then trying to accelerate from this slow speed. This is just one of the symptoms of the throttle lag when pulling away from a stop. Maybe the "official" symptom there are stating the update is for is more of a safety issue then just pulling away smoothly from a stop. Either way, both issues are fixed with the update.

A lag off the line I can deal with.

What I can't deal with is a low speed throttle-up lag. Here's the scenario that I am presented with:

T intersection, I have a stop sign, two way traffic in front of me, passing to both my left and right.
My view to the left is clear. My view to the right is obscured by tall bushes.
I come to a full stop at the stop sign.
I creep forward at 2-3mph, to the point where my vision to the right is 80-90%.
I look left, look right, look left, and all looks good, and decide to commit.
As I do so, I look right one last time and a headlight appears.
I have the choice of stabbing the brake or the gas pedal.
If I stab the brake then my nose is in the street in front of me.
I stab the gas pedal, and am presented with a throttle lag. Now I have two headlights on my right. and closer oncoming traffic.

That's an example of Throttle Lag that I can't deal with.

Why don't you go for software upgrade?

WOW!

Quite an improvement!

I also noticed that the steering was a bit "lighter" feeling.

Oh ya, noting mentioned on the window regulator.

I just had the update this week, and I feel a significant improvement. Much better throttle response off the line and at low speed. I go through a traffic circle every day, and it will be a much less stressful process from now on. It was tough to be smooth before the update, now it feels fine.

Overall, this makes the car much more enjoyable to drive. Now, if they could just make the steering feel more like BMWs used to feel.....

I took my Z4 in for service today and asked about the SIB-02-12 and they told me it did not have enough digits to be an SI code on their system.
In Australia anyway.
Are there any other numbers on your service records or is there an official name for the SI?

Yes.
Thanks Beyu.
I showed them the full 6 digits, but only typed 4 in my post.
The SA said they need more digits than 6.

In Post #9 on this thread http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=677604 there are PDFs attached. The post refers to them as SI B24 02 12 Delay in Engine Response and SI B24 04 12 Idle Fluctuation after a Cold Engine Start Perhaps there is something in the PDFs that they can reference.

Hello walendvay,

Congratulations on the upgrade!

A quick quesiton: what's the engine in your X3 28i? My 11 28i was equipped with N52 and SIB seems only mentioned N52T and N55.

Thanks.

- auto vent settings (time) disappeared (I set it back up)
- throttle feels frickin' awesome! wow! Feels like the 328i E91 that I've been driving for the last week.
- I read that the steering may change with this update, it may have, not totally sure.
- car makes EGR/fuel pump noises now. It did this at shut down when I arrived home. It was as if the car burped? Probably no big deal, as the BMW guys probably adjusted something with EGR and with fuel pressure. Prior to this, I only heard the infamous (whoosh) when I opened up the car in the morning.
- if I notice anything with fuel pressure priming tomorrow morning that is different, I'll let you know.
- I did have the rough idle signature at cold start up. Never cared, but am reading it should be fixed.
- finally, I have one high grade mountain road curve below my house, I use manual shift mode, and go down to 2nd. Before, I had to turn off DSC to get enough momentum to get up the switch back (never had the problem with an E91, nor my old E83), however, with the new software on the F25, it performs well! wow! I think I can spin the tires now if I wanted to! (with DSC off, of course!)

good luck, all!

I have checked www.automd.com and can't locate this Service Bulletin. I have also my local BMW dealer and they are not aware of this either. Would you mind point me to the right direction? Thank you all.
