Question Locking, unlocking ... that is the question?

Guys,
I'm acting like a pimp here as I can't get to get around this issue:
When unlocking the car (with the comfort access and via the driver's handle), it unlocks only the diver's door. Now, in order to have all doors opened, i need to pull out my key and press the unlock button on it!!! That is so "Uncomfort Access".
There was an option in the system that choses between unlocking "driver's door" vs. "all doors". I changed to "all doors", but it still does the same.
Am I doing something wrong here??? or is there a different setting or something?
thx

Additional info:
- this is while the car is still off
- if we open the door from frontpassenger's side, all doors open. it is only te diver's side

Really... that is really stupid then.... i mean... before i had an Infinti G37x... and if you press the button it unlocks the driver's door or passenger's door the first time, second press will open all doors, third press will lock the door (or if it is already all unlocked, the first press will lock the door).

yes, but I do not mean the remote key itself. with the remote key, it is just like you described, 1st driver's door, 2nd all doors (or something like that)
What I mean is the remote in your pocket and opening the door via the handle (based on the access comfort). This way it only opens the drivers door. and if you are more than 1 person trying to get into the car...well you have to take out your key and press the unlock on the key...not very comfort accessed, is it?
I think I'm doing something wrong here (and by the way, my keyboard isn't typing all letters today! I think eveything is falling apart for me today!!! )

You should be able to go into the I-drive and change the setting to "unlock all doors". Once that option is checked, it should unlock everything from the drivers side door. I would go back into your menu and make sure that the option is properly selected.

two things i overlooked a few times:

1- make sure you're using the same key as when you programmed the 'unlock all doors' feature

2- make sure you're logged into the correct user profile as when you programmed the 'unlock all doors' feature

I know what you mean... on MOST japanese cars with keyless go... (comfort access in BMW jargon), they usually have a button right on the door handle... instead of just reaching for the handle and the door opens, you press the button on the door handle... you get what i mean? lol...

Yep, these two are most commonly overlooked.

so..here is the new thing:
When we arrive at the destination, I get out of the car (as the driver) and try to open the rear door to bring out my kids, they are still locked! I then have to either push the unlock button on the remote once again the have it unlocked or the button on the dash... is that the normal way???
Shouldn't it not be the case the when you are parked, all doors should open? specially if the driver has got our of the car???

That sounds like a safety issue. With small kids, I wouldn't want the doors to automatically unlock if I got out, CA or not. Getting into the car is a different story.

May be customisable in the same way that unlocking just one door or unlocking all of the doors is customisable but not sure to be honest and never had the back doors locked like this after opening the driver door, and I open the back doors regularly

Any doors will of course unlock if they pull the handle twice. To unlock all press the unlock button on dash, I do that sometimes rather than tell the people in back to double pull the handle. I have to remember to hit the unlock on the dash when I have something in the back to unload. it was that way on my 2007 335 so I'm use to it now.

Other cars I had, you had to press the unlock button on the door, which then unlocked all doors, this works the same way if you use the master unlock on the dash. Personally, now that I'm use to it I prefer the way it is on BMW.

Just hit the central unlock on the center of the dash on your way out and all will be unlocked. The car should never unlock itself -- how would the car know the difference between stopping in a safe place or a dangerous or questionable place? Park in the mall garage, doors pop unlocked just as you see the creep walk around the concrete pillar. He opens the door and yanks a kid from the seat before you have the chance to lock the door. How far away could he be before you're out of the car and chasing?

I dont know why your having that problem. I changed my setting to unlock all doors. So when I unlock the driver door, it unlocks all the doors. Just make sure that you are using the key that you changed the setting on. If not, change it for both keys.

I think he's talking about from the inside. If you're in the driver's seat and exit by pulling the door handle twice it only unlocks the driver's door. If you hit the central unlock, they all unlock. (Or, if you're outside and have it configured as you do, then using the remote or the door handle unlock all of them.)
