Question about JB4 on X4 M40i
Would this work on my M40i?
https://www.amazon.com/Burger-Tuning...ywords=n55+jb4 OR https://www.amazon.com/Burger-Tuning...NQ909K409438SX Also if anyone knows which harness I need or if my car has a pneumatic or electronic wastegate please let me know! I have researched all over Burger Tuning's website and found nothing related to the M40i except for the Stage 1, and the new quick install option they recently released.

Did you ever get a response. Last week both Burger and DINAN both told me that their base, sub 300 dollar, turbo tuner boxes won't do much for the X4M40i or M2 because the turbo and tuning was pretty much maxed out by BMW as far as boost and timing and still being reliable with OEM cooling and intake capability. DINAN was a bit more forthcoming than Burger which was appreciated, But for $300 and, uncommon for DINAN, no typical warranty, what can you really expect. They both said about 20-25hp. One problem is that neither of them have actually used a X4M yet and are speculating this on the M2 tuning they have done. If you live near DINAN they are looking for an X4M to use for a couple weeks and it will be to your great benefit.

I've dyno'ed and raced at the drag-strip with JB4 map1, map2, map5, map7 in 93 octane and also with e85 blended in.. Do not recommend until proper firmware is out for these cars M2/X4 M40 Unfortunately I don't live near Dinan and their piggyback tune won't allow any flexibility that I have with a Flash(Custom Tuning tables). JB4 has pros/cons like everything and desperately waiting for a proper M2/X4 M40 firmware with support on our higher boost levels.

Any update on this?
Thinking of going M40 route and curious to see how well it tunes with a JB4. Thanks Quote:

I have been following your work both here n54 and YouTube...
Thanks for the effort put in. It's a shame they don't provide a firmware for the m2/m40i. Look forward to your detailed write up. Quote:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=954772 Maybe you can reach out to him and get more details; I presume it'd be a similar install on your m40i. I'd be curious to see if it's really possible since I definitely want to go up in power on my own x3 and I'd love to have that extra tuning capability the JB4 has. Your vehicle would definitely have the electronic wastegate as all other N55 engines produced from 2013 if IIRC. EDIT - Sorry, didn't notice that the question was already answered. I'm up a little too late tonight Last edited by ina93; 12-11-2016 at 09:37 PM.. |
