I picked up my new X3 35i yesterday in Spartanburg, South Carolina. One of the things I was looking forward to was the Hot Lap in the M5. Since it was raining all morning, I was disappointed....thinking that we wouldn't be able to do that much on the track. Well, the rain just made it even better. Doing all the driving exercises in the rain gave me great confidence in my new car because the X3 handled it so well. But again, when we were given the opportunity to do the hot lap in the M5 with the BMW pro drivers, I was thinking I'd never get to see what this car can really do. Boy, was I wrong. I don't think the driver held back at all and this car really stuck to the pavement, even though it was pouring down at the time. I took this video on my iPhone from the front seat. Sorry it's a little shaky, but it's pretty hard to keep your hands still when you're hanging on for dear life:
