n55 break in advice needed

so I pick up my17 x3 35i m sport tomorrow from the dealer after a nightmare that ended up turning out okay. My engine lost compression in cylinder 2 after just 40k miles and with a perfect maintanance record. What was going to be 15k just for the motor plus labor ended up being just 3k after demanding help from the dealership. They got BMW of NA involved and they helped cover the cost so we split it 3 ways and my portion was 3k. Picking it up tomorrow and was curious what type of break in regiment should I follow as well as dos and donts. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

That's wild that you were able to get BMW to pick up some of the tab.

Standard break in is usually keep it easy for 1000 miles then change the oil and let it rip.
IE, keep under 4k RPM, don't just go do 1k miles on the highway. Need to do stop and go.

yea when i was exploring my options, the best I could come up with was an engine with 80k on the clock installed for 12k, I dont think so.... So I got angry and had some words with the group that owns the dealership and they reached out to bmw of NA and they offered to assist because of the perfect service history it had.... I mean at 40k miles....CMON MAN!! Even the cheap car mfg companies last longer than that, thats insane. So I cant cuss bmw ever again, they came thru for me when I needed it, and Im so grateful for that.

That's facts, I've never heard a story like that before but glad it worked out for you. Enjoy it and replace your charge pipe.
