2010 BMW X3 M Sport?

I just picked up a used 2010 X3 that has M Badging on the wheels, steering wheel, shifter, and door kick panel.

I am trying to figure out if it is an actual M or if that was even offered? I know there is the 3.0Si but this is an X Drive so I am pretty confused. First BMW, I've ever owned.

Not sure how to attach photos but anyway

Get to know the difference between the M-sport pkg and a true M.

BMW offers M sport pkgs across the model platforms...where there may be an aero pkg and other goodies picked from the M-parts bin...but these are NOT BMW M models...just a pkg with cosmetic upgrades and sometimes suspension upgrades etc.

Did a google search to see if there was a 2010 X3 M sport pkg...and there appears there was: https://www.topspeed.com/cars/bmw/20...sport-package/

Garage List
The best way to tell is to use a vin decoder. It’ll list out the options with M sport being one of them.

But there’s something to note. There is the M sport package, sport package, and then there are true M cars. My 2011 F10 has the sport package which included sport steering wheel (basically an M sport steering wheel without the M sport logo) and seats. But it’s not an M sport because it has none of the M sport logos, no sport auto transmission, no dynamic handling package, etc.

My 2012 X3 has M sport package. It’s more of an aggressive/sporty appearance package. Some other minor details too. Usually you can tell an M sport vs a non M sport based on the appearance.
