not seeing a lot of mechanical updates other than the double wishbone suspension from the new "G" platform... i was hoping X5's torque vectoring and active anti-roll bars can trickle down to X3.

I agree that the architectural updates on G01, incl. 100kg weightreduction, is probably enough to be competitive.
My concern is design - pictures indicates a very "mild" design update, which, very probably, would be reflected in the upcoming X4 - G02? |

Why are you guys looking at a model that is 18 months away? Enjoy your F25's and hanker for the new model once it's released :-)
Off to drive my x30d M sport like it was stolen lol |

Link to article showing am interior shot of the G01 X3.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/438291/2...nterior-spied/ Key point is what appears to be a free-standing infotainment screen replacing the integrated screen the F25 has. Not a great fan of this arrangement. Tony |

With that stated, I firmly believe (rightly or wrongly) that the G01 shall prove to be a significant advance to what we currently have, so this is more about the celebratory anticipation I think, rather than not enjoying the present. Life is indeed short in some respects, so you are most correct that we should enjoy every moment of each day (whether in our X3s or not ), but I am quite interested in the ultimate debut of the G01. I suspect the stakes are quite high on this one for BMW, and I expect them to deliver as such. Hope you had a wonderful (but safe) drive! |

Obviously BMW will take a very conservative route with Design - that is dangerous with Audi, MB and Porsche lurking...
Hopefully the roof and rear end (X4) will be more aggressive. I will also look at the X2, when it gets the e-AWD. |

"Inside the cabin, the redesigned seats are said to be slimmer and lighter than before, adjustable in length and recline front and rear, and fully collapsible to provide a long and even cargo area." If this report is accurate, the additional adjustability of the G01 seats may please many owners. However, slimmer and lighter seats may have less padding than the seats in the F25. For owners like me that would prefer a comfort seat option in the X3, the redesigned seats may not be ideal. |

There is a constant fight by carmanufacturers/suppliers to reduce weight and space requirements for seats.
I don't think BMW will reduce comfort - they will have test-groups evaluating the new seats prior to approval. I believe you can rest in peace |

Absolutely true, but if we weren't interested in the newer model we wouldn't be on the forums to begin with.
