I occasionally have this problem in winter when it is very humid and then the sun comes out. There is a cover plate on the back of the headlight unit and I removed them and used a hair dryer to evaporate the moisture. I then placed a bag of Silica gel in each unit and replaced the cover. This seems to fix the problem for a year, at which point I just remove and re-bake the silica gel and fixed for another year.
Not ideal, but it is quite an easy fix.

Easy fix I suppose. I've had my F30 3 Series for almost 3 years now and it's never once suffered from condensation in the headlamps (Xenon cluster) but I have seen a few X3s with a little mist in the corners. I guess I'm mostly curious as to why I've only seen this on BMW X3s and what's changed from the other models.

Not really a big problem in the grand scheme of things though, eh!

Never had an issue even with non Xenon lights, previous non BMW have in the past but always due to atmospheric effects rather than an fault.

Damn.... i just read my earlier post... I need to go back to school.

I have been on various forums. E90post and F30post and they too have multiple threads describing these problems. You get all types of fixes and you also get the ones that happened once and never again...

I tried opening the headlamp through the rear today and it is completely sealed to the end user. i have the LED package on my X3 and there is no way to conventionally open these headlamps. Only service and up can actually get in there and open it.

mine is 2015, i had mine replaced few months ago, i had condensation, it was replaced under warranty. My X3 was only few months old.

when headlights have condensation, it usually means its not sealed properly. You can notice it after it rains or wash.
