Advice wanted on which OBDII reader for X3

I have a Peake R5/fcx from a 2001 that does not give a reading on the 2011. I'm looking to buy a new one that can read BMW proprietary codes as well as all the standard OBDII codes. Any advice on a low cost option? Which brands / models? Amazon has a ton of readers, but I can't tell if they will have the BMW-specific codes.
