Disabling 1st entry display warning

Can anyone suggest a way to disable the annoying entry warning on the display screen? Would appreciate that.

Herewith follows my first 1000 km impressions on 2012 28i:

Some past threads complained about wind noise: not this one. It\'s whisper quiet.
Ride: silky but panther-like. Awesome
Build quality: nose to nose, it\'s top shelf.

It\'s hard to find any fault about the driving experience or engineering. Sweet ride.

What warning is that? Can't say I've noticed.

I'd say it's required more by the ambulance chaser lawyers who introduce bogus cases, had it not been for them the BMW crowd wouldn't have a need to annoy us with these things or to have a sign outside my grocery store warning me that the raking lot could be slippery . . .

Talk about ambulance chasers - has anyone else noticed that if you open the door while in drive the darn car slams on the brakes and throws it into park? Boy is that annoying.

This has been my experience as well (though at 1000 miles). Despite all the complaints I've read here, my list of complaints are minor (and quite petty):

1. As noted, the initial "Accept" screen is an annoyance, though harmless.
2. The double-press required to turn off the engine (yes, I know some people like this).
3. As many others have complained, the "feature" to prevent gunning it and wasting gas ("lurching", etc) is an adjustment I would rather not make.

I really don't have any other complaints and the vehicle is so fantastic otherwise, beyond any expectation I had before hand.

I haven't seen this disclaimer here in Norway, thankfully, but that's probably because we are quite used to think for ourselves. And because of this I don't have to say IMO for everything either

The disclaimers-for-everything situation in the US is totally madness.

Yes I noticed that. Sometimes I want to do the following: when driving backwards (e.g. turning into a parking space ), depending on the situation, I prefer to open the driver door and look to the rear to check for obstacles.
Although I have PDC Park Distance Control, there are situations I want to open the door, rather than the window.
I am interested if other people in this forum do the same.

Anyway, in that situation, the park lock is brought on. Yes, very annoying.
Does anyone know if that can be switched off?

Do you mean the legal disclaimer screen that flashes for a few seconds after start-up? It's probably required by the hoards of lawyers that BMW keeps on staff. They've got to have something to do since everyone is so satisfied with BMW products that they NEVER get sued.
I don't have that on my UK version; must be an NA thing.
However, I did have a start up message on my Toyota, which couldn't be switched of as far as I could tell but I just got used to touching the screen as part of start-up. What was really annoying though was being unable to program a new satnav destination while the car was moving even by the passenger.

Agreed - this is nanny control.

Thats the trouble with software controlled cars/equipment. You can add functionality with a couple of code lines but not enough thought is given to the downside or consequences.

On the other hand, if somebody hits your car, you don't have to use valuable seconds to put it in park and turn on the parking brake before you get out.

Just open the door and jump out to get them

If you didn't have this functionality you had to use the extra seconds to raise your finger instead...cause when you got out, the villain was gone

But I can't do a hand break turn with the electro-brake swtich, also wasting valuable 'get them' time if I need to turn around fast or grab a parking space before its gone

The disclaimer will time out and go away after a minute, just ignore it. No need to accept.

What's with the influx of threads about disabling that message and why aren't people reading through the already active discussions before posting??!

I'm pretty sure it just throws it in park!

Parked up and switched off but then decided that I could afford to move forward a little. With a good old fashioned parking brake I would just release it and roll forward but the X3 simply refuses!

Think I'll try this at the next stop light, instead of braking. Can use the door for air foil braking too.

My new lawyer annoyance: The GD yellow Amour Tiles on the sidewalks for warning the blind. Try running the shopping basket on these things without braking your wrists.
