Smile Install X4 M40i rearview mirror on my X4 20d

Hello,

Here is a tutorial in pictures on changing the rearview mirrors of BMW X3, X4, X5, X6. They are sharing the same parts. The experiment should be similar to the rest of the BMW range.

I have installed the Ferric Grey caps from a BMW X4 M40i part

Replace BMW mirror caps:

This is quite easy and is done with a screwdriver.

The cap is held by 2 large clips that are under the mirror.

1 / Lower mirror and pull with fingers :

2 / Beware of cables :

3 / Use a screwdriver to push the 2 large clips that are in the top hole on the right and left (white in the picture).
Pull strongly the cap at the same time (by hand). Attention to small clips around the back. . Almost impossible to take apart without breaking

4 / It is disassembled, you can install the new part :

5 / Here is the result :

Reproduce the same thing on the other side, adjust your mirrors and enjoy !

You can find more details on my French BMW forum : http://www.ma-bmw.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27753

Sorry for my bad English

I have also replaced the mirrors on my X4 with aftermarket wide angle/convex mirrors on the left and right. Aids visibility so much with the X4's blind spots. Can't live without it now.

Looking nice, I should have replaced my covers instead of caps only. Does the mirror have auto dimming feature.

Both exterior mirrors have auto-dimming? Here in USA, BMW only offer auto-dimming on the driver's side mirror - not on the passenger side.
What year/model is your X4?

The Ferric Grey caps look great on your dark car. I also have the Ferric Grey caps, but on a Mineral Grey car and the contrast is not big enough. But no choice in the matter for a 2017 X4 M40i. Hey - wanna sell your old caps?

Nice work with the GIF, TomaGo 😂

Did your original side mirrors not have that turn signal LED strip?
