Xline features on regular X4
I just recently bought an X4 after months of research and I am super excited with my new car. Incidentally it was recommended to me by my close friend who works at MB in New Jersey. He said don't wait for the GLC coupe. Go figure!!
My question is: Is there anyway to add X-line features or external mods to a regular X4? Like the chrome rocker panel molding on the door that is only seen on the X-line version. I looked in several places and couldn't find any website that would carry this mod. Even called different dealers. They are not sure but gave me a part number which I am not sure will work. Just curious. Image attached. Thanks. |

I don't see the part. Also is that something easy to do. Looks like the entire rocker panel has to be replaced just to add a chrome molding. Any other options?
I don't want to add cheap moldings from after market shops that look tacky. Thank you. |

Looks like you will need four pieces total. RealOEM.com is a good place to find this stuff.

Great. Thank you. Yes 4 pieces looks like the whole panel will needs to be replaced on 4 doors. Wish it was something I could screw on lol. Or better glue on...but that would mean cheap!
Thanks for the information anyway. |

Hello,
I did it on my X4, you can find a tutorial with pictures on my French BMW Forum : http://www.ma-bmw.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=22305 You need a total of 8 parts if you want to do Front / Rear / Side Some are painted at factory (Side). You have to paint the Front/rear parts. Just ask if you need more informations. Thomas |

Thomas!!! Exactly what I was looking for.
Unfortunately I don't read/speak french. Can you do it in English, please? You will help me finish my 2 months research on how to do it and what parts to get. Thank you |

But not sure if the instructions are correct. I just need to know the instructions for the door rocker panel. And where you got the parts. I am only trying to change the door moldings. Thank you for your help. You car looks much better with it. |

Yes this part is very easy to change. Just pull the black plastic part in direction of the rear of the car.
TO install the new xline parts do the reverse operation, put the clips and push in direction of the front of the car. I don't know if i'm clear. Does it help you ? TO get the parts, just ask to BMW. We are waitting for your pictures. Thomas |

Looks great. For your next trick, may I suggest you invest in some Ferric Grey outside mirror caps.
Hmm - coming to think of it, I don't like my Ferric Grey caps - too little contrast with my Glacier Metal Silver body color. Trade?

Not a fan of the ferric grey M styling. This is one of the reasons I chose silver so I could minimize the contrast -- I cannot see much contrast at all. My SA stated that the ferric grey will show the M-ness of my car. I have no need for that; I want the performance without the advertising. I also removed the rear and side badging. D
