Started production EARLY!
Had a week 28 build slot and just checked and the car is in production with a June 30th completion date! How slim do you think my chances are of doing a Performance Center delivery for the week of July 4th? We would be able to fly down to get the X and have family watch the kids.

Wait... didn't you already get your X3?
When I was trying to squeeze PCD into my plans, I was hoping for Memorial Day weekend, but that didn't pan out. It might be possible, but the odds are against you. I guess the first question is - did you request PCD when you placed the order? If not, you may be SOL. If you did, then it shouldn't be long before you get a call with the proposed dates.

Ended up getting them at cost on the new one ($275). I also added the power tailgate to the order since it was no longer holding up production. The dealer has really bent over backwards to make us happy while we are waiting on the new one. I have the 35i as a loaner, they are paying for my first oil change at 2,000 miles (outside of the regular maintenance) and have been filling up the gas tank every week for me as well. They sure did turn a negative into a positive!

Congrats! I was shocked too when I checked today. Mine shouldn't have started until the second week of July. Guess they are finally getting caught up on orders.

i called the 800 number and it told me start of production, but July 11th completion date. is that strange? 2 weeks from when it says it is in production to estimated completion date? Maybe i'm misreading what "start of production" means on the website / in production means on the 1-800 number and just means BMW has accepted the order and is in their system?

I'm not sure how reliable this is but I was told the plant may shut down for a few days for the 4th.

From start to finish the X3 takes 40 hours (usually in 5 days it is done). The plant is closed for several days around the 4th so I'm sure that is why your completion date is a little bit longer than usual.

I can't wait for them to start on my car. verbally, I heard "2nd week of july" from the GM at the dealer. My order is at status 112 and has been for 1.5 weeks. Wish they'd start my car early!
