xDrive35i - Warm up time / temp ?

Hi All, just done first 300 miles in my brand new xDrive35i

This being my first BMW I have noticed it takes a long time for engine to warm up - 12 to 14 miles on average - is this right for the 35i engine?

Also would like to know at what temp is the car is considered 'warm' ?

Thanks!

The temperature gauge displays oil temp. not coolant, so the time to a stable operating temp. display takes much longer. The coolant actually warms up pretty quickly on the 35i. (It can be monitored digitally through the OBD-II port).

The general consensus is to avoid full throttle acceleration or revs over 4000 until the oil is up to at least 160 Deg. F (71 C.)
