I cannot get notification until only a few hundred feet before the turn. Anyone knows the Navi in iDrive can provide preview for the entire route? just like Garmin or Tomtom GPS can provide or Google map can show us. Actually, the non touch screen of iDrive is not so convenient for using.

Well, if you turn on the split-screen option, the entire route is shown on the right display. However, I have not seen an option for a text based overview (kind of like a turn-by-turn direction, if you will).

Use the voice command "Route List". This will display the turn by turn information, similar to what Google Maps would show. Also, a tip - pronounce it "root list", as the BMW systems have always seemed to recognize that better.

Center display should also be showing you distance to next turn, direction, and street name long before 100 feet.

Yes, that's right, but only appears when you are approaching to the next turn. I think it will be more convenient if I can read it according to personal needs.

That's the command that I used on my 335. The other night i was trying to see the route list and tried the voice command numerous times and it kept coming up with all kinds of other weird things like options etc. I looked in the navigation menus and found out that it's now called 'route information'. Tried that and it works.

Yes, I've noticed that they have changed a lot of the voice commands. I'm going to have to find a list and memorize them. For instance, "dial name" no longer gives you access by name to the phone book.... it brings up the recent call list and makes you select one by number (1...10).

You will be able to zoom and unzoom on the map display turning left or right the Idrive. I don't think you will be able to have a list or description of the all route.
