Thought you might be interested in a current issue we have had with my fathers new X3 I helped him buy from a UK dealer.

Factory order: 20d, Prof Media, few bits and bobs, in Black.

Car was delivered and my detailer went to put Gteknick on it, calling me to say the whole drivers side was covered in spots that seemed ingrained in the clear coat.

Very long story short it turned out to be tree pollen from trees at the back of the dealership.

They tried to clean it (using heat guns), but instead, made a complete hash of it, damaged the wing mirror, and left micro scratches all over it!

So they have ordered another, refunded my dad (less deposit) and are ordering a new one.

He has a demo X3 in the mean time!

First pic is scratch on bonnet a foot long, second is wing mirror cap missing, 3rd is spots highlighted, and 4th is scratching and spots.

Sorry crappy blackberry but you get the idea!

Next question, the car came with prof media inc bluetooth.

Am I right in saying the replacement car will need the cheaper prof media package AND bluetooth adding?

I would have thought the replacement would be a like for like!

I hope it is all resolved to satisfaction!

Can you tell us what dealer it was. I got mine in the UK - am completely happy with the dealer - they gave me a hugh discount and the service was excellent.

To be fair they have been great now that the Dealer Principal is involved. The new car has been spec'd like for like - adding BT sep, and comes in slightly cheaper.

Can anyone tell me how the nav has changed in the new ones coming now versus a couple of months ago?

Anything else that will be different?

Which detailer did you use for the Gtechniq treatment? I'm looking for a good (and reasonable) one.

Nope, I may have machine polished out, but we didnt want to get into an argument about him making it worse or whatever.

My detailer is Paul Townsend of Shine-on, who was on 5th gear a few months back. Do give him a call he's a top bloke.
