X4M40i Rear Brake calipers

Anyone having this problem. My X4M is SN 36 was the 1st one released for public sale and obviously an early production. It has the "M" on the front fender like the Euro version and a couple other differences. When new, the rear calipers had a chrome like finish on them which was very distinctive. After a year and 5000 miles I noticed they were looking dirty and spotty all the time and would not come clean with my normal wheel detailing. Last week I decided to make another attempt at getting the black "deposits" off and found that it wasn't a black "deposit" but the chrome like finish was actually deteriorating. Needless to say, they didn't clean up. I can't imagine BMW putting a special finish on the rear calipers expecting it to fail in 5000 miles. I know we have M3/4 front brakes but I'm not sure about the rears and I don't think a regular X4 has the chrome finish rear caliper. Does your X4M have the chrome like finish on the rear or not? if so, is it lasting? If not, what do you have for a finish? I am also checking with the dealer on this to see of it is a known problem or if there is an SB on it. Thanks for any input.
