Swapping Wheels/Tires

Well since spring appears to finally be here in Alberta, its time to swap on the summer wheels. I just purchased this vehicle, and when I got it it came with winter wheels and tires already on the vehicle, as well as the 369M wheels that came on it that are currently sitting in storage. So I want to swap these on, but I was curious if I'm going to have to do anything special to program tire pressure sensors, or if I can just swap them on and they will figure it out itself. Any help would be awesome.

What year is you vehicle? There are 2 different systems that monitor flat tyres.

Your system will have the system whereby the radius of the wheel/tyre is measured. Put the summer tyres on and do a reset from iDrive, then just drive.
On cars 09/2014 onwards the wheel have TPMS sensors which give exact psi readings on the iDrive display.same procedure of resetting the system, then drive off.

Your car uses the Runflat indicator RPA system.

If a tyre loses pressure, its diameter changes. This in turn alters the rotational speed of the corresponding wheel. This is detected and reported as a flat tyre and is indicated by a Yellow light illuminating on the dashboard.

You should ensure all your tyre pressures are as required and then the system is initialised from the iDrive as follows:

>Vehicle information.
>Vehicle status.
>Perform test.
>Start the engine - do not drive off.
>Start the initialisation with "Perform reset".
>Drive off.

Initialising is completed while the vehicle is in motion.

The complete procedure is on page 102 of the UK owners handbook. Yours may be different.
