Installing 3d welcome lights on doors?

Hey guys,

new to this forum, trying to soak in as much as I can. Has anyone done a mod where they have the BMW or M sport log display on the ground when you open the door?

I think my car has some sort of lighting option on it so that there is already a light pointing down on the ground - need to double check.

yes, its super easy, the light underneath the door pops out with a plastic pry tool, you disconnect the clip on the old one, pop in the new one, done deal. 5 minutes, literally.

yeah been doing a little bit of research and that's what it looks like. Problem is, all the ///m ones say they only go up to 2013 for the x3s, so not sure if it'd fit my 2014 or not.

oh sorry to clarify, there are welcome lights where I can replace with the right one, I just don't know the exact specs and whatnot for it.

This is the one that I ordered off of amazon. I was just going to try and see if it works?

i have the exact ones in my '13. They were a really tight fit, so had to apply a considerable amount of force to get them to snap in, one actually fell apart inside my door but the seller sent me an additional set so now i have a spare. also, beware these do make some noise when plugged in, kind of like a humming.

Ah, is it a constant humming noise? Yeah I wonder how much the sizing of the light slot differs between a 13 and 14

I bought a set of the cheap lights off Amazon and could not get them to fit my 2014. I sprang for the more expensive ones from BMW and they clicked in perfectly.

I bought 2 sets and send in for the free logos. They are better made than the cheaper ones u find on ebay and amazon. The oem bmw ones are to overprice at $120. The front are fairly simple to install but the rear is not as easy. U will need a longer adapter plug from them. U can ask for it when u order from https://www.windfireauto.com/

Oh nice! It looks like it specifically states that it fits the 2014 x3. How do you like yours - does it look legit? Sounds like a lot of the complaints are that the light burns out in a few months.

I got it installed 4 months ago and it looks great. I bought some cheap ones on amazon for $13 and it did not fit the plugs. I got M logo installed on the front and batman logo on the back because the kids like it.

I bought the same ones, they work great. I didnt know they sell a longer adapter plug for the back doors, I fought with it and made it work on my X3. Will be ordering another set for my wife's 3-series GT.

even if they break apart it will be easy to fish out the guts, the bottom of the door is hollow.
