Picking up a 2012 X3 35i soon

Gonna get a 2012 x3 35i and was curious what I should look out for when I take it out for the 7 day trial/return. (I'll probably bring it by an indy for a PPI too)

Pretty excited to possibly get a new toy and mods!

Was looking at the online photos of the car and noticed post 2014? cars seem to have an additional seal in the engine bay, anyone know the part number or if its even necessary for a 2012?

I have a 2012 X3 35i and have never missed not having the seal. Worry more about the water pump, thermostat, valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, cooler gasket and oil pan gasket that the seal you won't have.

Car is at 66k miles right now, looks like Valve cover gasket was done at a bmw dealership at 45k as well as the "Engine oil filter adapter gasket"(assuming this is the oil filter housing gasket) per Carfax as well as sparkplugs at 52k.

Unfortunately more detailed records arent available but I'm hoping itll have most of the problems already fixed, as Ive gone through so much trouble with my e70 with the n62 engine lol.

I also have 2012 X3 35i with 67K miles. Owned it since new. Been a great car but I have replaced VCG, OFHG, and water pump within past 18 months. All known maintenance issues.

You can count on water pump going out soon if not already replaced. You should also consider changing trans fluid, differential fluid, and transfer case fluid.

You could add those two seals if you wanted to. Not exactly sure what issue they cured. But the cars are otherwise identical. Just look at an add online for a car that has them, plug the last 7 places of that car's VIN into RealOEM.com and find the part numbers.

Those missing pieces are sound insulation. There's also another piece you can't see that's lower. I have a 2011 and looked them up a while ago. All 4 pieces would set me back >$200, so I passed.

see parts 20 & 21 for part numbers
