A/C recharging

How often, if ever, have you had to get your cars A/C system evacuated/recharged?

I've seen systems 25+ years old that have never been touched and I've seen systems that need a recharge every few years due to a super slow leak, which can be hard to locate without adding UV dye. If it's cooling to the proper spec range, leave it alone. If not, a set of gauges will show determine if the system is low.
