Part numbers please!
I took a brief vacation down to Miami to check out an A90 Supra. I left my X3 at home and drove down in my 911 for some alligator alley fun! I let a family member drive my X3 for the day because I did not want it to just sit in the garage.
Someway somehow, during the five days I was gone, the door handle on the passenger side and the drivers door storage box trim melted. Family member claims it could not have possibly been them so I suppose it magically melted. Pesky magicians! I suspect some petroleum based product is to blame, perhaps some hand lotion or fuel spill on the hands. I struggled to find the correct part numbers for both pieces, my fellow X3 owners please help! Pics below! Loosely related story that proves the danger of hand lotion to cars. Took my Porsche Cayenne in for service about a year ago and one of the lady valet drivers must have had her hands absolutely saturated in lotion. She got in my car to move it to the service center and destroyed my alcantara steering wheel. It was all oily and just disgusting because all of the dust from the shop stuck to it. Fortunately the dealer replaced the wheel and door pull for free.

This is a common problem with these, especially in hot climates. The sun bakes the rubber like material. There are even aftermarket ones, which means there is a high demand for replacements. Mine is turning a little gummy. Ceramic window tint is your friend.
