Hi Fi Professional sound Clipping problem
I have a 2011 X3 with the HiFi Professional sound system that sounded great, until it didn't! I have searched this forum and the web with no success on a definite answer as to what may be the cause of the Clipping sound. Two different scenarios but same result... On Warm/Hot days the sound begins to clip almost immediately, But on Cool days it will take roughly 10 minutes before it begins clipping! I am guessing either the Amp or the HU could be the Issue? It doesn't matter the source...radio, bluetooth, cd, external...I have found that at very low volume it doesn't clip as bad or frequent, But as soon a I turn up the volume it clips like a Mother-trucker! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

In your scenario, I'm guessing you have the CIC head unit. The amplifier is the top HiFi version and signal is transmitted over the fiber optic MOST bus.
Does this happen on all sound sources? (E.g. radio, aux, sat) Most likely it's the amp. Unfortunately those are still pricey used. The one thing I'd suggest checking is to see if the amp has a cooling fan and if that fan is still working.

I do have the CIC Optic Fiber HU...All sources are affected! Buying a used Amp is pricey and I may end up with the same problem? Bavsound has a great amplifier upgrade but at a mind boggling $1,900! I found someone on Ebay that will repair the Logic 7 for about$550...I"ll call them on Monday, ask some technical questions and decide if it sounds legit? I will update when I figure out what is my best option?
