3 days old and back to the dealer
Picked it up June 30th. Wife put 10 miles on it on Friday. We put another 10 on it on Saturday and it started to leak a clear oily fluid all over my garage floor. Estimate a quart or so. Its not motor oil as it is very clear. I assume transmission fluid and or transaxle fluid would also either be red or darker? My suspicion is refrigerant. We will find out tomorrow when I take it back to the dealership. Not a great 4th of July weekend or thrilling result for $50K+ vehicle.

Hope it's a simple fix, like a loose fitting. Let us know.
Besides, you don't really need your A/C this time of year, do you?

Sorry to hear about your problems. As others have said, please post details when you find out what was wrong and what had to be done

What a bummer. Hope it works out easily.
On a somewhat related side note . . . I thought I had a fluid like after some red liquid came up over my hood on a rainy morning. Was lucky in that I could go straight to the dealership. They checked the car out thoroughly and found nothing. They mentioned that the vehicle doesn't have any red fluids (depending on what washer fluid you use). Turned out I'd gone through a puddle (large, but not deep) of road kill blood diluted by rain water. Not suggesting your car is dripping road kill fluid, but just thought the "no red fluids" thing was interesting. I'd expected transmission fluid to be red -- 'cause I saw red transmission fluid when I was 15 and figured it must always now be red.

Update: It was Transmission fluid. They use a synthetic so it is not the traditional red color many are used to. There is a hose that was not routed or secured correctly and the hose was rubbing on the frame. It wore a weak spot in the hose and started leaking.
Hose was not stocked and had to be ordered and is supposed to be fed ex overnight. The tech said that there is a critical low level that would have triggered a dash light if enough fluid had been lost? Might get it back tomorrow late, but I will guess Thursday. I realized while trying to self diagnose this that there are no dipsticks to check engine oil or tranny fluid. It is all done electronically. |

YEah me too. It had 87 on it when I took delivery but still 107 miles and worn hose. Could be a BS line from the service dept?

Update: Hose ordered was not enough. They should have ordered two hoses as once they broke the seal on the existing 2 piece solution it cannot be reassembled. Now I wait another 24 hrs for another piece. I have owed the car 6 days and had use of it for 1 day. ETC is Friday.

Amen, it was up on a rack in the garage during the storm. The city is a mess. Sand and dirt everywhere. Blacktop parking lots look like beaches.

update. Got the car back. Transmission cooling line was rubbing on the axle because it was not clamped to the frame. Transmission holds 8.5L I lost 1L. There is a critical level where it will warn and eventually shut down according to the service advisor.
Dealer has no clue how to clean a vehicle. Hopefully no lingering effects. |
