newbie with a question

Just picked up a 2013 X3 35i. Really excited to see an active forum as I have been with other forums(Isuzu Vehicross, Porsche 968) and they are just great places for info.
A question, is there anyway to shut off economy mode permanently? It's a pain to remember to press the button every startup. I hate that stop and start as I live in NY it's every couple of blocks. On other vehicles I have had eco mode was hooked exclusively to an aux battery and could be disconnected.
Thanks and look forward to this forum.

Mine does not - I have to press Sport to get away from Economy /start/stop at start up.

I am sure there is a way to:
-always start in Sport or
-"kill" start/stop "for ever"

I believe it needs to be coded to remember its last setting. Check out codemycar.com or other coders for this feature to be disabled

I had my dealer make this programming change for me. I just asked on my first service and they made the change for no charge.

The only issue I have is the bright orange light that is on all the time now. I am thinking of covering it with a bit of electrical tape. I ended up turning auto-stop back on during a 6 hour drive I made last night through the middle of pitch black Iowa and Minnesota. It was obnoxiously bright when there are no other lights for miles.

Either way, the setting they programmed will make it remember the last setting for each key and works great.

My 2016 X4 came from the factory remembering the last used setting. I think they finally wised up and changed the default coding.

yes my 2013 always defaults to ON - it can be coded OFF but seems fine for us so never bothered..
