Tailgate/ Boot Button on Remote Does Nothing?

Hi,

Still learning about my X3, for some reason the tailgate/boot button on my remote does nothing. My tailgate is not powered but I would have thought that it should unlock when I press the button.
If the car is already locked, it seems the only way for me to open the tailgate is to press the door unlock button twice (once unlocks the drivers door only).
What am I missing? Is this a coding issue?

The tailgate button on my remote opens up the automatic tailgate but if I want to unlock it so I can manually open the tailgate, I would need to do as you say and press the door unlock button twice. Interesting, I am guessing that the tailgate button has no function if your tailgate is not automatic. You're right, it would have been smart to make it at least unlock just the tailgate, but it looks like the tailgate lock is connected to all the door locks.

I had the same issue and went to the dealer. You can only open the boot from the key fob once the doors are unlocked.

On my previous car you pressed the button and the boot opened without opening the car and having a potential security issue whilst emptying the boot.

Press and hold for two seconds to unlatch. You'll hear a pop.
